My first sewing project!

I finished the quilt for Bil's baby. All it needs now is to be washed so the clipped parts can get that frayed look.

Here's the back.

Here's a close up of all the little clips I had to make.

And here's the whole thing, and my ugly toes. I really struggled with the pattern on this, I am not a huge fan of the diagonals, but wanted it to look a little more random, but still be a pattern. I really really really like what I came up with.

It's really hard to not notice all the mistakes I made. Near the end, when there was so much fabric, gravity was making it hard to sew straight. And I don't know if it was me or gravity, but there were an awful lot of times when I noticed the fabric wasn't being pulled through the machine like it was supposed to, so there are areas with teeny, tiny stitches. But all in all, I'm so dang proud of it. It's beautiful.

Here's a picture of a rag quilt my aunt made for Malcolm. See how those edges are frayed? That's what it should will look like.

  2. Oh it's so cute! I love the pattern! It makes me want to bust out my sewing machine and make a quilt...

Hey I just looked in the blogger layout section and saw something called template designer. Have you looked through it yet?
