BRENDEN
Math-This week Brenden's math lesson was on double digit multiplication with regrouping. He did well and got 100% on his test at the end of the week.
History-Brenden is learning about the events leading up to the revolution. He read about the Intolerable Acts and how the colonists responded. He read about Thomas Jefferson writing the Declaration of Independence. He read about France and Spain's interest in helping the colonies and why they would want to help the colonists.
English-Most of this week's spelling lessons are on adding endings to words. In the lesson that added "ing" Brenden got most of the words wrong in the pretest, because he didn't double the ending consonant. He learned though, and is still making good progress. I've decided to read Johnny Tremain out loud to him. He's stopped writing in cursive though and will only grudgingly do it when I tell him.
French-Brenden did French three days this week. He got above 90% on all of the lessons

MALCOLM

Math-Malcolm finished his lesson in adding tens. He did all the worksheets with no mistakes, even the ones that had review problems on them.
History-In history, we read Archaeologists Dig For Clues. He loved this book. He learned about why archaeologists dig, what sorts of things they find, and how they use all their clues to figure out what life was like. We also started Usborne Book of World History. He hates that book as much as he hated the Usborne Book of People of the World. He says it's boring. I don't know how to make it not boring.
English-This week we read The Chalk Box kid. It's about a kid who creates a chalk garden on the walls of an abandoned building. We also finished Charlotte's Web ahead of schedule because Malcolm kept wanting to hear more.
PE-This week Malcolm went to his tumbling and trampoline class. I gave him a talking to about not messing up on purpose, working hard, and listening to his teacher. He did better about not messing around. At home, I showed him a video of what a cartwheel is supposed to look like and he practiced it. He's doing much better with it now.
