Dec 14-Jan 8

December 14-18

This week we focused on getting ready for Christmas. We baked (math), we wrote Christmas cards and letters to Santa (English), we build candy trains (engineering), they played out in the cold (PE), Malcolm went to tumbling, we learned about the true meaning of Christmas (history). Brenden didn't do French.

January 4-8

We didn't have school the first half of the week because I had the stomach flu.

In the second half of the week, Brenden did math review to refresh his memory from the break. Mostly he was doing the division facts he's already learned

In English, we reviewed prepositions again and he practiced finding them in sentences. He also did a few dictation sentences. In spelling, his lessons were on different consonant pairs.

He didn't do history this week.

He didn't do French this week.

He didn't do engineering this week.

In the second half of the week, I had to fight with Malcolm a lot. He was not wanting to do any school at all after playing the past two weeks. But I got him to do one page of math each day. He was working on problems where he had to figure out X plus what equals Y. He can easily do these, he just doesn't like to.

In English, he and Harper decided they wanted to learn cursive. He practiced a few letters. I had him do some practice from OPGTR, but just the rules and the words, not the sentences. He's already reading books and the sentences are too "boring" for him. I figure as long as we learn the rules and how to sound out words, it's ok if he reads on his own.

We didn't do history this week.

He went to PE and practiced the same stuff they do every week.

He didn't do engineering this week.
