August 17-21

MONDAY

Brenden
Brenden did his Kicking It! math drill. He did not get all 60 problems done in 4 minutes, so we'll work on it again tomorrow.  He did his WWE assignment, which was to read a passage from Mr. Revere and I, then he had to narrate it. For his spelliWng lesson, he had to review lessons 1-5. He got all the answers correct. He did a few lines from a song for his copywork practice.

After lunch, he did his history reading.

Malcolm
Today Malcolm did two pages of MUS. They were review pages. He worked on decimal places, adding, and counting.

For reading lessons today, he learned about the sound "ck" makes and practiced reading words that have a "ck" ending.

After lunch, he did HWOT and practiced the letters W-Z.

TUESDAY
Brenden did a written summary during scripture study. He did kicking it math drill and was one question short of passing it off. He did grammar where he learned to diagram sentences that have both an adjective and an adverb in them. In writing, he wrote a sentence from dictation. The sentence had both a semicolon and a list in it. After lunch, he did his history reading.

WEDNESDAY

Brenden wrote a narration for scripture study. He did Kicking It! math drill and this time was 2 problems away from finishing. However, since this time he wasn't messing around, I let him go ahead and pass it off. There really isn't any reason I can see for making him get 60 problems done in 4 minutes as opposed to 4 minutes 15 seconds. Now he's passed off his "yellow belt" and will be moving on to his "orange belt" tomorrow.

In English, he had to listen to an excerpt from Mr. Revere and I and answer questions about it. Then he narrated a summary to me, I wrote it down, then he copied it. In grammar, we had a review about the different parts of speech, mostly nouns, adjectives, verbs, and adverbs. In spelling, he worked on words with the long "I" sound.

After lunch he did typing and his BookShark reading.

Malcolm
Today, Malcolm did two more pages from MUS. He worked on decimal places, adding, counting to 20, and writing his numbers 0-20. He also did a dot to dot exercise to practice counting.

THURSDAY
Malcolm spent most of the day practicing reading. He did a lesson in OPGTR, but he found the box of BOB books I'd gotten him from Costco. He read the entire set to me.

Today Brenden did a narration page in scripture study. He's been writing everything in cursive, without me telling him to do so. In English, he did lesson 9, which is words with the long u sound. He did his grammar lesson, which was more review of adverbs. He did writing, which was a dictation. He did his Kicking It math review. He also did his history reading.

FRIDAY
Malcolm read the BOB books again. He's quite proud of himself. He also did a page of handwriting practice.

Today in English, Brenden did grammar lesson 26, which is a review of adverbs, adjectives, nouns, and verbs. He also did a lesson in writing, which he read a story, told me the narration summary, and I wrote it down for him. He decided to copy the narration on his own too. In spelling, he did lesson 10, which is long o words.
