Brenden and I were still sick for the beginning half of the week. So we only got a couple days of school done at the end of the week.
BRENDEN
In math, Brenden finished his last lesson in Gamma. He learned how many pounds are in a ton and how many feet are in a mile. He had to do word problems that used this information. He also started Delta. He's learning how to divide by 1 and 2.
In English, Brenden is working on a poem memorization. He's learning A Time to Talk by Robert Frost. He also did a narration of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. In spelling, he did more words with the long a vowel sound.
In history, Brenden finished up the book about Benjamin Franklin. He also read part of Johnny Tremain. I was happy to discover that Johnny did eventually find a job, but that's about all Brenden told me about it. He also read his assigned section in Beginner's American History.
Brenden did do French two days, but I'm not sure what he learned or practiced.
Brenden didn't do anything for the engineering class.
MALCOLM
In math, Malcolm is learning how to solve algebra questions: "What plus two equals four?" He's doing really well with these types of questions; he doesn't even need to use blocks for them. He's also reviewing past lessons.
In English, Malcolm worked on writing letters to Santa and Grammy. He also did a reading lesson on SQUI words (eg squint and squid). He had a little problem adding extra letters in where they didn't belong but he did ok. We also read a chapter of The Paint Brush Kid.
In history, we read a chapter from A Child's History of the World. We learned about Ancient Mesopotamia, Ancient India, and Ancient Egypt.
Malcolm went to tumbling. There's a new boy in the class and he and Malcolm were often messing around. Other than that, Malcolm did well.
Malcolm didn't do anything for the engineering class.
