Starting to get better

It is a pretty obvious fact that I'm a lousy housekeeper. Especially obvious for those who have dropped by unexpectedly. Yesterday, I had a breakthrough: I've been keeping up with the dishes!!!! I don't know for how long exactly; this past week I didn't do them Sunday or Monday, but before and after that, they were good. This is definitely the longest time in the history of my life that I've stayed on tops of the dishes. Even without a dishwasher, mind you. I had this realization and Corey said he was proud of me :) I'm proud of me too.

On Monday, I ordered my Bountiful Baskets. I got the regular one and a Mexican pack and a tortilla pack. I'm glad I got the tortilla pack. I made fajitas this week and thought, "I bet I could make the tortillas from scratch, it can't be that hard." Well, technically it's not hard to make them, but it is hard to make them right. The taste was ok, but I must cook them too long or something, because you fold them and they start to crack. Messy, but still tastes delicious. On the menu for next week is enchiladas, so I'm glad to use up these tortillas.

I went to get my basket. I got up at 545, fed baby girl, got there at 620 only to find out that the truck was late and I needed to come back at 830. So I came back, did a load of dishes, made steel cut oats, fed baby girl again, and woke Corey up and told him he was on parenting duty.
I went and it was colder at 830 than it was at 630! Should have brought a coat. Since I was late/on time, but not early enough to beat the rush, I had to park far away. And a regular basket, a Mexican basket, and several dozen tortillas are very, very heavy. Next time, I'm bringing something with wheels. We got some good stuff, I'm very excited. And does anyone know what to do with tomatillos or artichokes?

I ordered these lunchboxes. My plan, since I'm doing so awesome with the dishes, is to prepare everyone's breakfasts and lunches the night before. Then I can just stick them in the fridge and pull them out easily with no fuss. I'm tired of fuss. And then, if little mouths don't eat it all for breakfast or lunch, the lid goes back on and it goes back in the fridge for their snack. I had researched regular Bento boxes, but I do not want to be washing 16 items per person per day.
Also, since we have so many stinkin' tortillas, I made a bunch of chicken and cut it up to be used for wraps. That will also make it easier to use up all the spinach we get.

I'm reading a book called "More hours in a day" or something like that. it's very slow going, because I haven't really put life on hold to read it (a first for me). But I've gotten some very good ideas and am so motivated to simplify my life. No extra garbage. Life is busy enough with 3 little children, homeschooling, wanting to go back to school myself and helping Corey start a business. We've got to get rid of everything extra.

I'm going to be reading Proverbs 31 every morning for the next month. Hopefully it'll keep me moving along on the right path and keep me from being so lazy.
