MONDAY
So far today, he's done French and typing. I
know in typing, he won at least two racing games. I also know that it
said he was typing 9wpm and they expect him to be typing 12wpm at this
point.
In French, he learned how to spell new words and how to type sentences.
In math, he's working on lesson 16, multiplying by 4s.
In
history, we read about the Native Americans that were here when
Columbus arrived in the New World. We learned about the Iroquois Nation,
the Seminoles, the Wampanoag, and the Great Plains Indians. He read
four chapters in Pocahontas and the Strangers. Pocahontas was captured
by the white men and held for ransom. Her father didn't meet the demands
of the ransom, so she stayed with the white men. He also read two
chapters in Sign of the Beaver. He learned about how the natives would
use all parts of an animal they killed. They didn't hunt more than they
needed. They respected the animal. The white man only hunted the beaver
for its skin. All the rest went to waste. They hunted too many, so the
number of beaver declined.
TUESDAY
He
did more typing and French. I heard him do his French lessons and he's
really progressed with his pronunciations. He's often getting them
correct on the first try.
In history, we read the second half of
the Native American book. He learned about the Pueblo Indians and other
tribes living in the southwest.
He also did piano practice and is doing all of his songs really well.
He did one page in math, practicing multiplying by 4s.
WEDNESDAY
He
had a dentist appointment in Orem before his science class. We went to
the library so he could get a book to read while we were waiting all
that time. He got Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. In science
class, he learned about earthquakes and tsunamis.
THURSDAY
I don't remember exactly what we did, but I know we did math and English.
FRIDAY
Today was Grammy's last day here, so the kids spent time with her in the morning. After she left, we went to our friends' house because they had the day off school. Brenden got lots of time out in the sun (very important for him) playing and having fun.
